Grades in this class are determined in a way that is very likely different from what you are used to. In simple terms, grades will be determined by a grading contract. This means that if you meet the terms of the contract, then you get the grade.
You must meet all of the requirements listed in a particular grade in order to receive that grade. These are the terms of the grading contract. Failure to meet all of the requirements will result in the next lower grade.
In this grading scheme, it is you, the student, who decides how much work you wish to do this semester. If you complete that work on time and satisfactorily, you will receive the grade. This means planning ahead, thinking about all of your obligations and responsibilities this semester and also determining what grade you want or need in this course.
All assignments must be turned in on time. Late work will not be accepted.
There are only two grades for any assignment: Satisfactory and Unsatisfactory.
- Satisfactory is full credit
- good quality, on time, meets all stated requirements
- Unsatisfactory is no credit
- poor quality, late, not submitted, fails to meet stated requirements
